Study Abroad

Rider University's Center for International Education
Mission Statement

Rider University is guided by a commitment to prepare its students as global citizens and socially responsible leaders in an increasingly interdependent, diverse and complex world. Students who study abroad enrich their personal lives and gain a competitive edge in graduate and professional school admissions and the job market.

To achieve this goal, the University provides all students with the opportunity to participate in an international experience.  Students may choose to go abroad for a year, semester, or summer, and they can participate in short-term faculty-led travel projects abroad. Education abroad experiences include study, service-learning and internships available through University exchanges, affiliate programs or direct enrollment programs. Courses taken abroad can be articulated with students' major and minor program requirements and can be used to satisfy general education and elective requirements.

Faculty-Led International Travel Projects

Rider faculty members also offer international travel projects between semesters, during Spring Break, and in the summer as separate courses or as a component of regular coursework.  These short-term travel projects typically last 2-3 weeks, to such countries as China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and Spain, are directed and taught by Rider faculty.  These courses are offered for credit. This program open to all Rider students provides you with the opportunity to be a one-semester “buddy” to incoming undergraduate and graduate international students. Perhaps someone at your program or university location helped you get past those first weeks and became a dear friend in the process. Now you have the opportunity to “give back” and help a student from another country adjust to life at Rider and in America. Mentors meet with their mentees during international student orientations in fall or winter, and agree to communicate with them periodically during the first semester.
